Yeah, how are you going to deal with the skin ends with no handle wrap?
Are snake skins, even with finish on them, something you want to handle repeatedly?

I think the Turquoise looks sharp    Turquoise tip overlays would hide the other skin ends :goldtooth:

I'm doing what roy said, cutting it to a point above and below the grip.
And on the tip I'm dead ending it to the Rattles just like a real snake. ;)

NO PINK ROY

Awesome fantastic job Mark...

Bvas

Part of me wants to know how it shoots. But part of me doesn't care because it looks SWEET.
Some hunt to survive; some survive to hunt

Mad Max

I brought it to 24" draw many times but I'm scared  to go to 28" :scared:
All my other snakey bows broke before I got this far.

She's looking real good, Mark. Snaky bows are tough to tiller and some are hard to keep together. Wishing this one a long, productive life.    :archer2:

I assume the bow is shot in since you put the skins on? But your skeered to draw it to 28?

What's the worst that could happen?:)

With the looks of the grain on that bow I'll bet she will be fine.

Flem

Damn thats one nice job you did with the skins Mark
Very elegant how you finished off the ends.

Ah come on, Flem.

I guess it's ok:)

Flem

I'd find him and give him a big hug if he wasn't hiding in the rain forest down there in the southland :scared:Honestly, I'm not a big fan of snake skin backing. They elicit lots of oohs and ahhhs, like kids looking at a shinny penny at the bottom of a fountain. Mark's application is artistic and natural looking, not like some that look like they are slapped on the back. Having no artistic talent myself, I am impressed at others skills.

I look at it like this.
Osage is a awesome bow wood for selfbows and if you are lucky enough that Mother Nature give us something like this, it should be shown to others. I like skins on a snakey stave and I will take it to the Tennessee Classic and MoJam for those who want to see.
I'm not showing off, there are many Bowyers alot better than me. I want it to be a work of Mother natures Art as best I can do with it.
I'm really enjoying working on it and letting you guy's see it happen.
Without Forums like this, very few would see.

I got the edges cleaned up and sand the bow all over Today.
Thanks for watching Guy's :jumper:
And for all the help ;)
