How old is your safety belt?

I'm in the process of replacing my safety belt (long overdue).  My old belt always hooked off my left hip (I'm left-handed).  I have never felt comfortable with the strap hooking between my shoulder blades.  Just wondering if there are other options out there.

Check out traditional bow hunting and wilderness podcast on you tube he has cool safety system climbing harness.  I'd be embarrassed to say how old mine is.

I've been using a Screaming Eagle harness for better than 25 years. This year I am in the process of switching to a rock climbing harness. Lots of guys using them. It seems simpler and safer but since I have actually used it yet I can say.

Mine is a HSS. It's about 6 yrs. old. My first HSS was about 8 yrs. old before I replaced it with this lighter one.

All but one of mine are new this year. I let the belt that wraps around the tree stay in place, so I need to change them every 2 years.

Brand new rock climbing harness and life line that goes around the tree for me this year. Wish I would've made the switch years ago, safest I've ever felt and easy to use. Be safe out there no matter what your choice in gear and best of luck!

I love my rock climbing harness. I haven't heard anyone not like it that has tried it.

I was looking at rock climbing harnesses last night.  The shoulder straps bother me.   I was wondering where your safety line hooks from you to the tree and what brand do you  use.

Black Diamond Alpine Bod is what I use. Strap hooks in front right below your belly button.

New rock climbing harness for me this year. Started hunting out of them 4-5 years ago and love them.

Be safe!!

I use a Petzl that's maybe 7 years of age and it hooks in the front(I'd prefer side).  I don't like anything loose in front of me that might deflect a bow limb.  I have a "lineman's " belt that I made from an ascender and climbing rope.  I secure it around the treee in front of me when hanging stands and reverse it around behind me to be out of the way when hunting.  I'll cinch with an overhand knot tight at the tree to prevent slippage and just enough slack to stand and sit when I run it back through the ascender.  If I stepped off my stand I might have a foot of drop before I'd be suspended.  The preferred way would be to use it in conjunction with  a prussic knot on a  a climbing line from ground to stand if that's your thing.

I have one of the origional seat of the Pants harness. Gotta be 20 years old or so. I love it as they dont make them simple like that anymore. Its used in conjunction with a lifeline from above my treestand to the ground so Im always hooked in. This year i'll be trying out a new Kestrel Flex saddle as well.

Well, this thread got me thinking. So for 54 bucks I just ordered a new HSS X-1. Weights less than the one I have now. No pockets or bino straps, just a functional vest.
