John passed, early this morning... 5 years ago, today, I was arriving in Cody to attend his one on one shooting school... I know I feel grateful to have spent the day with such an amazing man... he will be missed

John was one of the best men I've ever known. He was all about faith, family and shooting arrows. He called me last week to have lunch. I missed his call by seconds. I called back but got his answering machine. We attended his church for years. John was a gifted preacher as well. He lived a full life and will be missed by many people.

As long as I can remember in 47 years of being married to a longbow fanatic, not a day goes by without a reference to the wisdom of John Schulz.  His advice and wisdom will be echoed by longbow shooters forever.

[attachment=1] A few years back I got to spend 3 days sharing a table at a shoot in Mississippi. John shared so many stories of Howard Hill that I can't begin to remember them all.
That weekend was topped off with a shooting class. What a great time with a great man. God bless John Schulz.

Sorry to see this.  The article about him by Sam Fadala in February 1977 Bowhunter magazine is what moved me from recurves to a Howard Hill Tembo longbow that fall.  Still shooting that bow today.  God speed Mr. Schulz

1986, Howard Hill Tembo with my first black bear, Acme Premium cedar shaft and two blade Zwickey Delta 2 blade.  Bow was acquired in 1977 after reading Sam Fadala article on John Schulz in Bowhunter Magazine.
