There is no wall close enough to do it without a hassle, If it catches 95% I will be good

Hey RR,
i did heaps and heaps of research when we were getting our shop setup with a proper dust collector.
looking at all the stats, the bag and/or drum type filters just did not cut it.
the filter bags let the fine dust escape, they were purported to have incredible cfm movement( tested in labs etc!), until actually put on a real system, and not one worked well.
Extensive Research revealed a guy called Bill Pentz, who put excessive amounts of time into researching and designing cyclonic extractor's.
he sold/ gave the manufacturing rights for his designs to a company called Clear Vue. We ended up purchasing their biggest unit, and it has proven to be one of the best investments we ever made.

on Bills website, he offers free plans and kits and parts for his units,
but we just bought from Clear Vue.
no more dust, the drum catches everything, and they have a full range of sizes. from a dust deputy size right up to a 5hp unit.

What fujiboy said above.

Those bag dust collectors suck.

The cyclone collectors are the bestest out there..

Flem

Need to remember that the cyclones are dust/particle separators, not filters. You still need to have a good filter on the exhaust side of the unit. Lots of real world tests have been performed on dust collecting units and its worth reading all the available info.

More reason to run it thru the wall to outside. On mine if you keep the drum emptied hardly anything gets outside tho.

I also have an air cleaner in the ceiling that filters the dust but there isn't hardly any dust to filter after the cyclone and shop vac are done.

I have most of my system in place, except for the gates. My system runs into the larger dust deputy, which sets on a barrel, then goes into the barrel top vacuum. I left the cloth filter on it and the system was extremely loud. I then removed the filter and vented it outside. What difference in noise level. Only problem now is I am down for 3 months with shoulder surgery.

Still got one good arm, get to work!

Just kidding, that sucks about the surgery. Hope it goes/went well.
Just wait till the physical terrorists get a hold of you :scared:

What did ya have done, Ricky?

I tore a rotator cuff clear off.

That was a hurting sob...

Was back to shooting in 3 months.

Hope ya heal up well.

Got a flu shot last December that was given way too high and went into the top of the bicep tendon. Had immediate pain that never went away. That caused the tendon to eventually detach.

Holy crap! Never heard of anything like that. I can only imagine the pain from that. I think I just turned into an anti-vaxxer.
