Arm Guard

I was just wondering what yall prefer in the way of arm guard, i.e., a sleeve or one with straps and preferred material, leather?

Don't use any......no problem. When I did it was a strap on arm gaurd

I started making arm guards with veg. tan leather 7-9oz. about 1.5yr ago. A lot of fun and I do enjoy making them and learning about the tooling and drying.

I prefer to use the proper grip and I don't need one nor does anyone I teach including lots of kids.
If it's only to hold clothes back hunting for instance, I still don't need one but any will do

i just cut the leg off the wifes old pantyhose and wear it as a sleeve on bow are to keep clothes out of the way if need be

I rarely wear one.  The sleeve to me would be too hot during the summer.    I do prefer a leather guard with lace straps over bulky wool shirts/jackets in cold weather.

I wear a bracer every timer I shoot primarily to keep my bow arm sleeve out of the way. I have a loose stance and draw so hitting my arm usually doesn't happen but I like to keep my equipment the same whether I'm hunting or just shooting 3D or target.

I haven't been shooting long, but I like my leather brace with 3 stretchy cords for  practice.   For hunting I use an old sleeve off a work shirt.

After catching my sleeve twice shooting at elk, I've worn an arm guard every time I've shot since.  About 40 years now.
Mine is a lace on leather one that was made for me with Dryad Bows on it.

I look at like a seat belt, don't plan on having a wreck but $$it happens.

I always use one, even though the string seldom hits my arm. But, as we know, sometimes form fails us and we smack our forearms. Call it insurance.

I've never needed to use an arm guard, but I've shot with some mighty fine shooters who always use one.  I'm not sure good form will always prevent string slap, particularly with a low brace height longbow (which I don't shoot, so perhaps that is one reason I don't use one).  Body type is another factor.  Big people like Denny Sturgis seem to need them more than average sized folks like me

Leather most times,  been using one for 50 years, I guess if Hill wore one it's ok for me to wear one.

Leather with the small bungee type cords. In fact I need to get a new one as my MAL one finally popped a holder after 12-13 years or so.  Normally
I never hit it, but sometimes I do and that's why. We can't all be perfect.

I'm in the cheap insurance camp. Rarely hit my arm, but when I do it hurts like hell. With an arm guard I don't even think about it. Almost a must with long sleeves in deer season.

I am a cheap insurance guy as well.  Don't really need one unless it is cold and I am hunting or shooting with layers on.
Don't wear one in warmer weather at all but always wear when cold or actually hunting.

I wear the leather one with the cord when hunting... I always have something long sleeve when hunting.
