For over two months I have been hunting this buck, I had him on trail camera almost every night (after dark) ,he showed up just before the rut. I was after him most every day the wind was right except for xmas and Thanksgiving . Finally Last Friday here he came, at ten yards I hit full draw and as I did the floor in my blind let out a little crick and there he was ...gone ! My insides went from exploding ping pong balls to cream of wheat ,talk about disappointment, Ive shot some nice bucks but not like this buck he is huge a booner plus, what a rack . I tried a dozen times coming to full draw afterwards and could not make the floor crick again . Sunday the season ended so I ate my tag the first time since about 1971 .
Who else has run into old lucky  ?

Bisch

Sometimes, I think it's fate! It just wasn't your turn, so it didn't happen.

He'll be even bigger next season!!!! Better luck then!!!!!

HE made me into a polished arrow & concealed me in HIS quiver. Isaiah 49:2

That really stinks. I guess the good thing is if he made it this late he should hopefully still be around next season. Maybe you can pattern him early before gun season(s).

Tim, if it makes you feel any better, I'll buy the 1st couple of drinks in Springfield at the PBS Banquet.  Oberle did tell me you shot a doe during the Safari.  I doubt if any of that makes you feel better.....

Tim Finley

Mark I may need more than a couple especially if your buyin . Frank I don't know how to post pictures and I do have one that is on my phone the rest are deleted.

Sam McMichael

That's the sort of thing that keeps dedicated bow hunters coming back year after year.

Here is Tims buck.  Not the best image but you get the idea.  Its a buck that will keep Tim up for awhile  :biglaugh:[attachment=1]

Tim
I shot a nice one and can't complain but this is the one that toyed with me all season.  I had him in a couple of times when it was so calm that I couldn't move enough to get a shot off. I took this pick with my phone when I was setting a couple weeks ago after I had already filled my tag.

Justin Falon

Good job Tim.  Way to stay after this beast.  September is almost here!!

I may get over it in a couple of years ! That's a big buck Brad has a picture of  . A couple of weeks ago I took a different route back to my truck and found a dead buck about the size and shape of Brads that had been shot in the gun season he would score in the high 150s . Thanks Bryan for posting that picture.

I had a similar experience on pretty pressured public land but he wasn't near the caliber of yours, I had found what I thought a core area a nice buck and hunted there and in the general area for serial weeks almost every day if the wind allowed it and was very careful  hunting him, I finally got to watch him at 40 yards the 2nd week of Nov. he appeared to be in the mid 130,s and a nice even 10 pt. Well Dec 7th he showed back up walking into one of my few openings at 20 yards and about 10 feet before hitting the opening, he just stopped and looked around and spotted me in the tree. He seemed to check me off then continued coming , but at the shot he blew up and was gone. I knew I'd never see him again out of that tree

Nothing to get over. Go find his sheds this spring and continue the story....it's not over.

Nice deer guys.
The biggest 8 pt. that I've shot at this year has the tree limbs trained to  jump in front of my arrow. Go figure.  LOL

Tim Finley

How do those deer train the trees to do that that's not luck that's down right savvy . I even had a timber wolf do it once to a tiny pine bough.

Jerry R Jeffer

2018 was like that for me every single day

Tim Finley

I got rained out of the Badlands in ND ,then I was 2 days in NW South Dakota, a big blizzard was coming in and I had to race home . I went back to central SD in Nov. just in time to hit below zero weather 2019 has been my worst year . My 11 year old grandson got a buck though !
