Good stuff.  Seems like some of the Texas deer hunt videos where you posted the point of aim was below the animal knowing they'd drop into it.

Congratulations

I can't speak for the others but I can tell you this....

I saw my impala Flitch twice...... And I aimed where he was gonna be...... And it worked perfectly

Now that is pretty cool.  Congratulations on the hunt!

Good memories - One of the impala's I shot from 20 feet above, nearly ducked the arrow.  Hit it high in the shoulder but angled down through the vitals.  I thought I had made a bad shot, but upon looking at the video it was because the Impala ducked the arrow.
All the other animals I took didn't duck the arrows.

They are a great animal to hunt and they are as quick as demonstrated. As I have been fortunate to have taken 4 (with longbow) over 25 years I would say that the "traditional" advice still holds: the closer the shot and the calmer the animal, the best chance of beating their reflexes and of a good hit.  I only offer this  to let the uninitiated go at it with confidence.  It is very doable with a longbow.

One of my hunting partners, a man good at it, did not believe deer jumped the string. Now he does...
I show videos like this to my Science class, to illustrate the high stakes in the predator-prey relationship.
We calculate in mph what a 165 fps arrow is, and inevitably they are impressed.

By the way, that landscape resembles Arizona.

For the record, I did not aim for the heart, I aimed for where the heart was going to be.....

And based on my Texas hunt experiences it worked perfectly.....

I watched my impalla twitch twice which gave me the target area I need to aim for..... Which was 4" behind and 3 inches low of the heart
