There were some photos posted years ago of how to modify and lower a shelf on a super kodiak but I can find them. i have a SK the has a little too much shelf. I'm rasping slowly. Which seems to be the only way, that wood is hard.
I'd like to see some photos for a guide.
Thanks,

Tedd, what is the advantage to lowering the shelf?

I used those pictures as a guide some years back to modify a SK. I cheated, no rasp, a Japanese saw and a sander. I measured down to where I wanted the shelf and cut into the riser. I will be honest, that first cut was mentally hard. Once I cut out the wood I used my orbital sander to clean up the cuts. I also reshaped the grip to be more user friendly. I then used wet/dry sandpaper and Tru-oil and sanded the areas baby butt smooth.
Lowering the shelf gets the arrow closer to the bow hand. When the bow is canted the arrow stays closer to the hand, making the arrow stay in line with the target.

Hope that helps. Since I took this picture I have removed the rest and added material so I shoot off the shelf.

I've lowered the shelf on both a griz and a sk.  I used a dremel on mine.  Took a before pic and then taped the area off and marked the tape.....then grind down to the mark.  Pretty simple really

Thank you,
It would be a whole lot easier if they just made them low from the factory! When I grab the SK it hits 18" higher than all my bows for the first shot or so. Getting it lower will make it hit the same as all my other bows.

My SK isn't what we call "our go to bow" but as long as I do my part it shoots just fine. I wish it came a few inches longer, like 64" in the standard model. My hunting is more in open country these days so length isn't an issue.
