I was over in the Moose River Plains (Adirondacks) for the opening of early bow.  Quite warm, but nice camping weather.  No deer sighted, but I did see some moose tracks near an old beaver dam.  A rare sight here.  It looks like it's cooling down a bit, and the rain is supposed to let up some.  So that is a plus.

Cooled down overnight, wind has slacked off as well. Saw some does this AM, and found a fresh scrape. Late acorn drop but they are hailing down now. Lookin' good !!!!!

First sit of my season,

Saturday morning

Weather was cold (33degrees) and still. The kinda still where you cringe at every step you take. Got into the tree around 6:30am. My asbel wool was warm as the sun began lighting the earth below me. The morning was quiet didn't see even a squirrel till after 7. At 7:30 I caught a head coming through the branches to my right. At first glance I thought buck but quickly realized it was a mature doe. She was in my first window in seconds and the string was back. Clicker set as I pulled through the shot she cleared my first gap, she was moving with purpose as she approached my second clearing, she stopped to pee and poop then got to moving again. I still hadn't let down as she entered the second window (15yrds) I picked my spot and the arrow was gone, love to say I hit exactly where I was looking but I didn't I hit a little back but still looked good.
She tore forward and and literally jumped over a ground blind we had build (probably 12' and 7' high) it was impressive. In a moment she was out of sight and it was quiet. Since it was only about 7:32 at this point I decided to stay put, we had a friend and my father on the property and with such a perfect morning I didn't wanna disturb their hunt.
At 10 I got down and found blood feet from impact sight. It wasn't hard to follow her path. Within 10 mins I had covered the 125yrds to where she lay. Liver and lung did her in, 112lbs on the scale no fat yet. She'll feed us well and I'm grateful for her.

Best of luck to the rest of ya, here's to hoping bone shows up later this season.

Do not follow where the path may lead.  Go, instead, where there is no path and leave a trail.

They were up and about today--after all that rain-- still early in the season, though. A beautiful morning and evening in the woods!

Activity increased last night..saw 9, including 3 good bucks. they are on their feet. Good beechnut crop this year, has them feeding early. Plenty of apples, in certain areas, and acorns abound. It will be good in the later season too, as they will return to these feeding areas when the snow falls. Its starting to get good!

Good job on the doe Kopper.  I had a spindly little 5pt broadside for 5 minutes at 15yds last night . He was with a big doe which I would have shot but she wouldn't give me an opening. Weather is great so I'll be out again tonight. I'm not going out twice a day this year until the rut hits as last year I burned myself out hitting it too much before the prime time.

Nice job on the doe, tell us about your setup. Looks like a homemade bow there?
