Bear Weather Rest Roll Call

Who else is a user of the $5 miracle tuner? I have used one ever since I read that Paul Shafer used one. That was many years ago. I started out trimming the bottom 1/3 off just like he did, but eventually just left them stock and stuck them on. I have tried to shoot off the shelf many times, but eventually put the $5 miracle tuner back on. For me it is the trick for achieving perfect arrow flight with a less than perfect release. They are just so forgiving. I can even shoot a plastic vane without an issue. The point of this thread is not to demean any other material or set up but rather to extol the virtues of the Weather Rest. Who else?

I have not used the Bear rest, but do use a Hoyt Hunter Stick on. Same deal, solves a lot of problems for me. 1Whitetail1

Since getting back into trad ten years ago I stuck with shelf shooting. As a teen I enjoyed the dependability and durability of the Weather rest. There will always be a fond appreciation for them and may just have to back up and rethink. Great thread brings back memories. Oh and vanes, man that's all I used with no regrets.

X 4 here. Three Bear recurves and a Red Wing hunter. They all have pretty flat shelves. I played around trying to build them up etc. After getting frustrated problems were solved using a weather rest. A simple solution when trying to improve arrow flight . Tony Z.

Have used them on recurves for years now.  Will shoot off shelf when tweaking but always come back to the weather rest.

No, I have tried them on occasion but end up back with my Para rest (brush). I also believe a raised rest like the Bear makes tuning a lot easier. I also have no issues using vanes. Raised rests and vanes have been around more years than I care to remember.

I have one on my Bear TD. Was having problems with arrow flight when I first got the bow. Stuck on a Weather rest and problem solved. It's one of the best shooting bows I have now. Don't have them on any other bows, but maybe should.

Like M60 I've stuck with a brush since 1971-72. My first Bear T/D was magnesium and had a brush built in and shot good. Now para rest fits the bill. The only weather rest sometimes made noise when drawing back.

I always used them on my Bear compound bows but have not on recurves. I am going to put one on a 76er though. they work real well.

Tried on on my new Schafer after not shooting one for 30 years and fell in love.  Paul knew what he was doing for certain.  Shooting a recurve well is what traditional is all about.

I had trouble off the shelf on my Bear TD so I put a weather rest on and now I shoot great. I use double sided carpet tape instead of the squishy foam backing they come with. I put them on all my bows now.

They work for me.  One hidden advantage is you don't really need a stajak or similar arrow holder either. The little finger holds the arrow at the ready for the most part.
