Yes, it's happening again!  BigJim and a select few of my friends will be heading to Alberta to reek havoc on the illusive jackelope's, but will shoot any big whitetails that get in our way!

This will be my first trip to this part of Alberta, but it is only 80 miles from "Thunder Child" Indian reservation in Saskatchewan that I have spent many awesome days at.

We will be visiting some friends/customers of mine and with any luck, get some video footage of some of the fun.
October can't get here quick enough!  Flights have been purchased.. the wait is on

Sounds like great fun. Hopefully there will be a full trip report.

Crooked Stic

Good deal and I assume that is where the bow name came from?
High on Archery.

BigJim

Yes Crooked Stick, My wife and I hunted Thunder Child several times and were always excited to go back.
One fall hunt at TC, my wife took a moose, whitetail and Bear in 5 days! She's quite lucky...and a great shot.

She has taken 3 WT bucks, 2 bears and 1 moose at TC. I have taken 3 bucks, 1 moose and a cinnamon bear there.. and during a moose hunt, I took 18 grouse with my bow in just one week.
To date, it has been the most heavenly place I've been to hunt... but there's more places to see!

So that's where the bow got it's name. And all along I thought you were a fan of H.G. Wells. 🤔😁
Don't worry, I still love the bow.
Have a great hunt!
Dave.

The anticipation meter will have its limits tested.

Will be looking forward, myself, to hearing the details of this adventure.

Best of luck ol buddy, yes Alberta is a real diverse province, it's got everything.I love hunting in the NW with my so and son in law for Moose and Elk. If you get close to the mountains watch out for Grizz. The govt. says there endangered ,but the residents and hunters know better.
Quote from Howard Hill.( Whenever he taught someone to shoot) "Son make up your mind right now if you want to target shoot or hunt as theres a world of differance between the two"

Jerry Russell

Best of luck.  I have hunted Alberta a lot for mule deer and bear.  A wonderful place.

BigJim

Thanks ya'll, Hopefully I will learn how to shoot a bow by then

Good hunting my friend!  Alberta is a magical place.  Arguably my favorite place I've visited on planet earth to date.  Have fun!  Look forward to the stories.

Jim, Perhaps shoot me a PM and if you like we can try to meet up. I work in the area as a sales rep, so I am sure I would be able to take some time out to meet up! Or if you need anything feel free to let me know, always very happy to help out a fellow trad shooter!

I am honored to have been asked to accompany Jim on this great adventure into the Alberta wilderness  :goldtooth:

Hey Drewsbow, if I understood Darcy correctly, we will be able to get "dog tags" ...coyote/wolf for little to no cost. Not sure about you, but I would cherish a wolf as highly or higher than I would a sizeable buck! .. and that wouldn't matter to me what weapon I used on it.
The "Dog" hunting would take place if someone were to fill there buck tag if they so choose.
