hunting alone again this season

Is there anyone in my area who'd like to share a deer camp this September in the Entiat area North of Wenatchee?  I would prefer not to have a solo deer camp.  I miss the camaraderie, and none of my friends shoot a bow of any sort.  In fact, after the last rifle season, we all agreed never to take a firearm into the woods again-too many fools from the West side who have no clue what to do.  I've been less fearful in Viet Nam than here!  Camp is very quiet without some friends to share it with.

I think a lot of guys our age have that problem Angus.  When in my 50's always had half a dozen guys interested in going, now, no one.

The fires there the last two years had made it difficult to get in the area. The Deer numbers have also dropped or they have moved on to privet property. That has been my favorite area to hunt deer for years.

It's GMU 245, 3pt or antlerless, but the fires have been both North and a little South of there-I'm talking Mud Creek.  Haven't scouted it this season yet-we still have some snow on the ground.  The deer in the area around town have had it pretty easy, since we haven't gotten a ton of snow, 3 feet maybe here in town.  My snow tires are coming off the truck later this week, so I'll do some checking before the Rock Shoot.  You're welcome to camp & hunt with me-I'll be on that little spur road across from Wilkerson Canyon.  At least that's the plan so far.....

I wish I was close enough to join you. I hunt mostly alone, but one weekend a year we have a group that camps and hunts together. As a young guy, being alone was no issue, but as I get older I do miss the company.

I'm clueless about what it takes for our brother Canadians to hunt here!  Can't imagine it's too difficult since no one's carrying firearms though.  That'd set off the border guys....who have absolutely NO sense of humor!  it seems this isn't an isolated situation by any means, and that's sad.  I'm beginning to think we're a vanishing breed, we old wanderers of the forest.

I've hunted alone for quite a few years except for out of state hunts. Have to say I prefer it. I enjoy the me time and I have no one getting out of their stand early only to ruin a chance for a shot for me. Less scent pollution and less movement getting to stands and out.

We elk and deer hunt the Blue Mountains (Lick Creek & Tucannon) for 2 weeks in September.  We've got access to a cabin.  3 trad hunters in our group.  Usually 5-6 bowhunters in our camp.  PM me if interested in joining us.

We're headed out to Washington for 2 weeks, but I'm afraid it will be before the hunting season starts, and even if it was open, I highly doubt I could convince everyone that our family vacation should be turned in to a hunting trip.

I'd love to hunt with you guys, Ryan, but I need to be somewhat close to home for a while-getting a new little Golden Retriever later this Summer.  Mud Creek up the Entiat's only about 45 minutes away, so I can come home to help with the training and poop policing...we'll have 3 of them running around then!

I have hunt solo for some time now.  Now and then I would get with someone but not often. Having moved to Georgia I have deal with all new areas and and do it solo. A lot less public land close by than back home,  it I will just have to drive a bit and find access. Alone does have it's good points, but my wife is not happy with it, me getting older and such. I will just not go as deep and pace my self.

My preference is solo.  Do go to a couple group hunts per year, but then usually wander of by myself.  Last trip was solo with my new kayak, and Momma was a bit concerned, but then realized that I probably did not have cell coverage.  She made sure I had a PFD and promised to be smart about my river time.  I did make a couple mile paddle trip out to get to a spot were I could call.  Enjoyed my couple days away and got some good exercise with the kayak.  Found a few spots that deserve a return visit, next time.

The older I get the less I enjoy hunting alone 
Like Ksbowman it has its advantages, I've killed many deer that I know I wouldn't have if I had company on them hunts.
