For release agent I used a NEW wax ring for release agent . Put it on kinda thick so have just a little play in the socket . But works fine. Just one of the things I'd do differently . Was scared it would be a one piece again so went a bit heavy on wax !

I did mike the tenon to make sure the end was slightly smaller than the base ...

A mistake I made on one of mine was to spray lacquer finish on the tenon . Even though I had paste wax on there the lacquer kinda melted and balled up.I did get it apart but was a pain. a little loose dont hurt when strung but tight is more acceptable.

Looks good Kenny! Turkeys won't see that black inside a blind. Do you think 58' is short enough for blind shooting? I built and 2 piece longbow a while ago and used the two ton epoxy and 1" glass wrap I got from Big Jim, it worked great but the two epoxy ended up being expensive, I think I used four tubes, it doesn't go very far. The riser was solid walnut and even though it was a dry piece of wood it shrunk a little after I build it so the socket loosen a little. It still shot well but when i build another Im definitely going to put a glass or G1o I beam in it! I think it will keep the socket tighter also.

Ken,

I made it black then feathered some gray on it so if I hunt with ghillie the black wont shine out in the timber.

The cloth and resin wasn't bad price bought locally , and seems plenty stout. Have to buy another pack of cloth if I do another sometime, but have plenty of resin. Stinks to high heaven tho, shop smelled for two days. I would advise doing it outdoors if at all possible!!

The epoxy you get like west systems (kinda like really thin Smooth on) hardly has a smell to it. I am betting the Auto stuff sets up pretty quick.

Yeah it is a messy deal for sure. Gonna drip no matter what. I am thinking of doing one to my Hyper Stic forward handle bow. I like keepin the tenon .750 to .800 wide. With G10 .120 Ibeam just wonder how narrow front to belly you could go?

On the chrono, nothing really.

On the build, I learned to make a jig to cut it on the table saw, and a jig to hold the bow lined up while wrapping.

Don't use too much release agent, just enough.

It came apart well, I used toothpicks to keep the holes lined up, a whack with a hammer to a block clamped to the bow and it was loose.

The auto body glass ckoth worked fine (so far) I don't forsee any problems with it.

Put something with color (cotton cloth was reccomended) in the wrap after you have about 2/3 of the wrap on there so you don't get too deep. I got lucky on that one...

Make one, they are cool!

I guess it's just cosmetic, but what do you do with the toothpicks after you break them? Are they visible?
