Now that deer season is officially over in my part of PA, I'm looking forward to pursuing some squirrel and bunnies with my recurve.

I'm looking for a head to use that will kill quickly and efficiently and still leave some meat for the pot. I know that shot placement is always critical.

      I shoot a Kodiak Magnum 45# @ 28.

What do you fellas that small game hunt with your bows use for heads?

Thanks in advance for any responses!

Kill them quickly/ salvage meat the best you can. SGH from montec. Pricey but get the job done. IF they happen to stick in a tree mark the location/ next strong wind will knock it down. Some will tell you to put a wingnut behind a field point. That is very heavy and will affect arrow flight.  I take my small game hunting seriously. I match my small game setup to my deer setup and I have much better success then using poor grade " small game arrows and heads"

I use cheaper glue on broadheads. I get a lot of jack rabbits, and they are tough.

Roy from Pa

What's the difference, Jim?

Ya can't hit them anyways:)

I'm a big fan of the small game thumpers from vpa

Slickhead

red feather talon screw on. Pricey as most specialized heads but they look killer.

I use cheap broadheads or heavy Hex blunts.  What part of PA are you hunting?  I'm always up for a bunny stomp if you need some company.

Howdy Evan, I'm in SW PA near Greensburg about 150 miles from Hummelstown.

Possum Head

Squirrels are tough it's smaller broadheads for me.

Jim,
I have all kinds of points for you to try!
Can also use old broadheads on rabbits.

Trenton G.

I use judo points. I guess that's more of a stumping head, but every rabbit that I've shot with them it has blown right through and leaves a pretty big hole. Also have had good luck with them on squirrels.

Yooper-traveler

Ace/hex heads, judo points and some small Broadheads I have lying around. Prudence dictates I use judo point more now with snow.

Jason my friend, you know if my bow is shooting a broadhead It'll be coming from Tuffhead!

Go big or go home.  Lost some bunnies with blunts and judos and once the rabbit took the arrow never to be seen again.

durp

home made broadheads made from saw blades...made heavy so i can mount them on broken woodies and still get good flight

Here's what I do.  The nail can be pulled and put back in if you fall into stumping mode or removed for shooting at targets.  This point stops them and does little damage.  I started using these when a grouse took off from a ridge with my arrow sticking halfway through.  Must have flown nearly a mile.  :biglaugh:

I like the G5 Small Game Head. I use it for stumping too. They are pretty tough. I haven't managed to damage one yet, but my son did break one of the "blades" off by hitting a rock using his wheelie bow.
