I opened up a surprise package today,
I spent my life 40 some years, working  wood, sanding and shaping, the weirder the more I liked working it,
shaping, sanding, and caressing It (whipping off the saw/sanding dust) then watching the weirdness POP as I put the finish on it,
putting my heart and soul into it, only to have my bosses sell it,,but that's life, and I done got paid well for it,
,
I almost got a woodie, when I saw the wood from Kenny,
Gorgeous Flaming Lines, Matched sets,
I can't wait to start Playing with it,
The bow limb package---get yr mind out of the gutter  :biglaugh:
This one stays Home, Until it gets willed to my daughter  Then her Daughter as a Family Heirloom
Brother, you've got the sickness real bad! I should know, I can't walk past a gnarly old tree without wondering what's inside.
Dave.
,
cheers

A speed reader would have gleaned from that post; caressing whipping weirdness flaming woodie playing with it.

Made a third pair of limbs for this experimental bow I been working on... Gluing on limb tips and will be testing it for performance later today...  I stiffened up the last 5-6" on these limbs... The curves are now pretty static... The DFC looks great...  I got real low numbers in the mid part of the chart...  That usually means stiffer outer limbs... Which was sorta expected...  We will see if that translates into better performance...  Or Not...  Lol...

With my R/D bows too stiff or too long of a stiff area on the outer limbs gives you a smoother draw but usually lacks a little in performance...

What are some of your views on static vs working recurve??  Which one is better shooting and which gives better performance??

monterey

I think the very best recurve design will always beat the very best static design.

Just my opinion from shooting.  I've never built either type!

I think working recurves are smoother to shoot, but I am biased toward long and limber :goldtooth:

Hmmm...  What exactly does that mean??

Roy from Pa

Static does nothing for performance.
