I made my first batch of string making wax.  I used 2 lbs of bees wax and 2 toilet wax rings.  I guessed at the ratio.  I think it turned out good.  I'll give it a test run and adjust the ratio if I need to.

As many strings as I want to Bvas    I do things in bulk.  My time is getting more limited so if I get set up to do something I take advantage of it.

Roy,  that's how I heat up my hide glue too.  The water pan keeps the heat steady.  It takes a little longer but the results are better.

Shredd, that bow looks sweet. What's the red wood you used for center I beam?  Looking forward to the details.

Good productive day today. Between doin other household chores. I managed to get limbs profiled. Also got riser and tip overlays shaped and glued on. It will still be a couple days before I get a string on. I'm planning on adding antler to the tips, but prefer to get all the base material on and narrowed to the limbs first. That way I can get the antler as thin as possible.

Beautiful looking bow there Shredd   I was thinking you had some cool looking burnt orange glass till I saw the other pics! Funny how camera angle can change the color.

Bvas, "I Heart explosives"?

Flem

Actually I'm not sure about the belly glass color?

 Thanks for the compliments guys...

   Just for chits and giggles...

I posted this bow on FB on a trad group claiming it shoots over 182 fps...  Some guy said BS on me and this is what he posted...

"I know that my 65# bear grizzly, a short and super fast recurve shoots a 440gr arrow at 180fps.
This wouldn't come close."       :clapper:   :biglaugh:

I told him that his bow was slow and to go educate himself and get back to me...
