Great job and a dandy buck!!!

You must be a little further north than me. We never saw any snow, just rain.

Thanks again for the comments guys. Just some quick history on my strategy.. This particular area was about 20 yards from a big Beach Tree that is a annual triple scrape. It's a primary used by mature bucks in the area every year. I've never hunted it but monitored it annually over the years and I scout this particular area in Feb/March.  I keep a logbook on the weather conditions year in/out as to when these deer use it and why. It's about impossible to get in because of how these bucks use the thermals to check this scrape without even going to it. I picked a Red Oak out last February that I felt would be the spot if the right situation came. Well on this particular day it did and I felt one of these Bucks would move around 2-4pm based on the wind switch that was forecasted that day and the trend with the barometer. I moved in and killed him about a hour after I set up. I have kept records over the years and it seems that these older deer make about 1 mistake a year and I just happened to be in the right spot when he did. Here are a couple pics of him at 3.5 and 4.5.

Hats off for really doing your homework!! I can't believe how small his neck was last October

Thanks Owl.. I agree on the neck. He was like that this year. Genetically he didn't have a big body like the deer we typically have here but he was long. He's a cool buck. I liked his character. This farm typically has cool genetics and he had the split 2 at 3.5 which he lost but both 2's were bladed this year.
