Great shot. Surprised he went so far. If you can bust a coyote every think else should be easy.
They are wary and very quick. >>>----> Ken

Congratulations, that was a mighty fine shot.
You done good...really good!
The broadhead used, regardless of how sharp, is nowhere as important as being able to place it in the correct spot.

Thank you all for your compliments. I wish I could say that I shoot that well everyday but if you were to watch me in the backyard you would wonder how I hit that darn coyote. The good Lord was looking down on me the other day and everything just fell together perfectly. I will say this though, I remember being hyper focused and calm and collected during the shot. Now if I can just keep that cool when that big buck steps out...

Possum - those white shafts are sort of an accident. They are popular shafts that I built a few years ago. When I was putting them together my wife was experimenting with some craft projects in the garage. I think she called it paint staining. So I thought I'd give it a try on my shafts. I was going for a nice weathered oak color but when it all got dry it turned out to be a light grey color. Oh well I guess I'll have to build some more soon.

BTW - the bow is a Robertson Peregrine 63@28. The poplar shafts were tipped with 125 grain woodsman and a 75 grain woody weight.

For those asking about the pelt, I was about a mile and a half from the truck when I shot it. I opted to skin it and just pack the hide out. I was planning on selling it but as a few suggested I might consider making a hat. That never occurred to me until you guys suggested it.

A coyote is one of the most difficult animals to take with a stick bow -- a real trophy. Congratulations.

Congrats!! Real nice 1 too. I'd try to swing a full body mount of that 1!! Killing a coyote while still hunting with a recurve is mind blowing to me!! You do that with any regularity your a real Indian!!! Good job!!

Way to go!!! Any time you can be hidden enough to fool a predator is a good day. Had a group of does I've been watching for a while and just found the remains of the lead doe that the song dogs killed. Her corpse was 15' in front of my hiding spot and never knew because of the tall grass. Couldn't figure out why the other group wouldn't commit to entering the area. After they left I went to the other side of the field and found her as soon as I got up from my stool.
