Anyone have any issues with the HSS linemans belt? What do you guys use for a climbing belt?

Black Widow has one called the Treehopper belt.  Its what I use..

Yes I have had issues with the HSS lineman's belt. It folds over itself causing it to either grip the tree when I am trying to move it or it jams in the buckle when folded over. It did save my butt once though.

I plan on making one like in the video over the winter when I can find the ascender back in stock.

I built one just like Jason's video. It works like a charm.

Been climbing poles much of my life in the telecommunications industry and aside from climbing a smooth pole with a leather climbing belt, the guy in the video has it right... When I strap into a pole and cable while on a ladder, the tethering rope in the video is almost exactly the same as I use...

This Thread got moved my mistake so I put it back last night. Sorry for the inconvenience.

I'm a newbie to saddle hunting and still learning..... A Monkey's Tail attachment suppose to lock the linesman belt for more safety. See saddlehunter.com

Add one of these and you can adjust it with one hand in and out works great.

I use the summit but will be getting the Tetherd next looks better built.

I really like this idea. Jason recommended a Wild Country Ropeman 1 ascender. I've checked online and can't find anyone that has any in stock. Does anybody know where I can purchase one? Thanks.
Do not follow where the path may lead.  Go, instead, where there is no path and leave a trail.

Check out REI. That is where I found the Ropeman 1. I got one about a month ago from them.

Thanks, I checked with them but they are out of stock and don't expect them for 30 days.

Ropeman 1s were out of stock everywhere when I was looking a few years ago so I bought a Kong and I've been very happy with it. Just in case you need a second option.

Maybe somebody has already mentioned this, but it's worth noting that a lineman's gaffs are relatively short, and longer ones are advisable for climbing trees. Utility poles don't have bark.

mr. stokes, we are not talking about climbing trees with any gaffs, just using a linemans belt around tree while hanging stands or steps

Thanks Thom. I'll take a look at the Kong.

mec lineman, I've spent a lot of time with linemen and utility poles, and thought it was worth mentioning. I've seen the scars from cutouts. My hat is off to you; that's a tough job.
