Material for adapters, etc

If you were making your own adapters what material would be best to use? Would 316 stainless steel be OK? Needs to not bend or break!

316L is the surgical tool grade steel. It is very tough. My glu in glu on for buff hunt were made of it. They could handle frontal impact in concrete block with no bending. Once axis 260 shaft was footed with a ballistic collard that combo was handling several shot on concrete bloc without obvious damage other than the nock coming out and the point flattening staight
Tuffhead was selling special ss steel adaptator that were really tougher than the steel one usually sold. I don't find them anymore on their website

Is there much need out there for custom adapters, inserts, points etc? I'm toying with the idea of buying a lathe to be able to make my own custom stuff you can't buy.

Things like screw in BH adapters made from heavy field points so you can get more weight than the heaviest currently available which is 125gr. This would allow you to use your favourite glue on head in a weight higher than can be achieved with standard 125gr adapters.

Custom glue in/on adapters. Custom inserts.

abowyer (a sponser here) has stainless adaptors up to 200grs. i use the 150grs. myself for a total head weight of 450grs.

You can buy 200gr broadhead adapters from the US.

I would lean more towards 4130 or 4140 commercial heat treat or or do my own heat treat. I wouldn't use stainless myself.

I used unspecified circular saw blades to cut my broadheads from, the ferrule was made from old motorcycle tappet rods. They chip when hit with hard stuff but no bending.
Total weight 260 grains
