Recurve limb width

I've been wondering if anyone has ever designed a recurve that widened in the bend compared to the relative taper to make a static limb instead of using wedges, like some do off the fade?

None that I've ever seen.

Adding width doesn't stiffen a limb as much as adding thickness.  So basically you would have to add a lot of width to have the same effect as adding a little thickness. Most bowyers try to keep their limb tips as light as possible.

I was told for taking weight off a bow removing 0.001 of thickness would be the same as sanding 0.008 off of the sides..so adding a tip wedge would make a lighter stiffer tip than adding heavy width material.

Yeah I get that and have used tip and power wedges before. I'm just curious if anyone had ever tried it. With all the whacky bow designs of the past I'm just curious.
