Never mind guys bowjunkie told me before and I allowed 1 3/4 on the tree when I made it so were it says 28 its actually 26 1/4. I forgot, now I do feel stupid.
Life is to short to pass up anything that could potentially be bow wood!

Bows may differ a little in grip depth when measured from back to belly.  This can cause your draw length to vary when measuring to the back of the bow.

Your draw length should not change if measured from the throat of the grip on the belly side.

I still measure to the back of the bow, but I build all my bows with 1-3/4" depth to help eliminate this confusion.

I believe AMO also uses 1-3/4" in front of the deepest part of the grip as the measuring point.

BMorv

Yep like Bvas says, 1.75" from the deepest part of the handle is what AMO uses for draw length.
In your example with a 28" AMO draw length, you should pull the bow 26.25" measured from the deepest part of the handle.

If my math is right (trust me it will NOT be), you should be coming in about correct if your handle is approx 1.5"? However, this subject baffles me too.

Now that I have opened my mouth, someone please correct me.
Skeater who?

Bowjunkie

That's what I told ya on the other board there, Johnny. 26 1/4" to the belly side of the grip. That way grip thickness changes from bow to bow are irrelevant.

John Malone

I Remember now Bowjunkie, I'm going to go check my tree and see if I allowed for that when I marked it out.

False alarm fellows. When I built the tree I allowed for that but I marked it weird it says 28 but its really 26 1/4 from the back of whatever bow would be on there. must have marked 28 so it was easier, then forgot I done it. Betcha I got that drilled in my head good now though.
