Cut some parallels out of some American Ebony for Kenny to taper. Hopefully they will sufficiently cast an arrow this fall through this fellow hanging out behind my cabin!!

Never even considered putting rebar in a riser.  That should stiffen it up!

I guess I am missing something here why the rebar?

I just unloaded the truck and cleaned the camper after getting home last night from the ETAR trip (with a couple of overnighters for antiquing on the way home).  I went with every intent to buy a bow while I was there but it just didn't happen. I did however make a great trade at the target butts. I had a 50# Striker Stinger in colored action wood and swapped it for a 42# Stinger with Zebra limbs and curly maple handle. I know I am please as can be with the trade and 99% sure he was too.
Skeater who?

I'm trying to get caught up on loose ends before elk season opener.  This bow has been needing a grip wrap and seemed like a good starting point.  I find doing these to be sorta therapeutic.  Very enjoyable.

I 'm guessing the rebar is a heat sink?

Flem

Thats a real nice looking Bow there, Monterey.
I had my 3rd go at trying to make Ivory "micarta" Hopefully it will end up being tip overlays or knife scales.[attachment=1]

Tell more about the micarta crafting.  I'd love to try it sometime.

If you fear failure, you will never try ! But never except it!!

There are a pant-load of videos and pictorials on making "micarta".  I'm not expert enough to give directions. I can share some personal observations. If you use paper, make sure it wets out. Blotter paper, filter paper, work well. I presoak          any paper in acetone' to make sure it's absorbent. Natural fiber fabrics work the best. Also low viscosity epoxy wets out better. I use System three, Clear Coat, its 100% solids and 400 cps. I also press it under vacuum, squeezes it in all directions and sucks out any air bubbles. I imagine a pressure pot would have the same effect.

kennym

Actually yesterday , but I bolted on a perfectly straight set of limbs on a td longbow!!! Woo hoo

I got inspired by Brads bunnie buster arrows & made some , nothing like stump shooting a dawn to get my mind as right as it can get any more 😃 I made some foam bunnies and was picking them off fairly consistently at 20-40 yards, I found with these tips a little stiffer spine works good, I cant figure it out but does ![attachment=1][attachment=2]
