John, ya wonder what story took place to find lead in a tree.... I found a .22 bullet once sawing lams out..
Kenny, stuff like that fascinates the heck out of me. It had to have been in there for a very long time. I pulled out three of them, might see if I can imbed them in the belly side of the tips as deccoration, they've been together this long.
Life is to short to pass up anything that could potentially be bow wood!

Bvas you where right I put about another 80 arrows threw this bow today and string , I adjusted the brace height as the string stretched in and it got considerable quieter in the end ,I made a 14 strand string I think I'm going to try a 12 strand next , John I knows I have put shot in trees squirrel hunting not on purpose !  But none the less it's there .

Put the first coats on this bow today... I am keeping this one for myself... I decided to go Plain Jane and just let the grain do the talking...    It is 39#...  I can shoot this bow all day long...  It is 2lb. lighter than my other bow and 6fps faster...  I'll be 57 in two days and this just happens to be bow #57...

I like it simple but elegant plus a all day shooter at that weight !  :clapper:

That's a nice looking bow.  I like your idea of going down a bit in weight.

I'm going to build one for myself too.  Hopefully before elk opens.  Haven't made a bow for myself in over 15 years.

New bow under construction.  This one is for the winning bidder at a charity auction.  Bloodwood and grey super actionwood.  I got Bingham's to sell me a big block of it so I could make my own spliced limbs.  The guy who bought it wanted a grey and red theme.

Looking Good Johnson...  That bow is gonna look Sweet...

Thanks Guys...  Yes, it is Sheoak...

Yeah I am very comfortable just under 40#...  I made a 32# bow a while back for women and kids to shoot...  Just for chits and giggles I shot about 100 arrows through it...  I found that I was very accurate with it...  So I decided to go down in weight for a practice bow...  Plus I spend more time making them than shooting them... If it was the other way around I would probably be comfortable with a 43- 45# bow...

Monterey, Go make yourself a nice one...  You are over due...

monterey

I'm going to do that.  Now you got me thinking I need two.  A light one for practice and heavier one for hunting.

Put the rug and plate on and shot it a few time.  I will find me a tube and get her shipped out to you Roy.  I better quit shooting it or I might change my mind on sending it!  LOL
