Scroll Saw and Lams?

I do not have a band saw to cut out laminations.  I DO have a scroll saw with n adjustable blade so I can cut a length of wood how every long it happens to be.  Can I use that for lamination making?

Another option I have is access to a large table saw.  It is not at my house so the scroll saw would be the ideal choice.

I don't think a scroll saw would give you a straight cut when resawing a board.  Table saw would be a better option, but more dangerous.

Unless your scroll is better than mine, it would drive you crazy!

Maybe a tablesaw with a 0 clearance insert and a thin blade? Regular insert will let it suck the lam down in the saw unless you make a jig for repeat cuts on the off side of the stock.

I don`t have a band saw nor a table saw.I buy lumber at a lumber yard and go to a carpenter, pay a few ILS and get the board cut to strips on a table saw. Then I Grind them to taper and width.

Jeremy, till you get a better set up you would be way ahead ordering lams from KennyM. Very nice and reasonable price.

I have a cheap 9" bandsaw and a good quality table saw.  I favor the table saw when waste isn't an issue.  My table saw just makes truer cuts, and up to 1.75" resaw isn't a problem.  A zero clearance insert and a Grrripper push block makes it safer.

The next tool I purchase will be a heavy duty bandsaw though.

Yep.  My Dad has all the equipment I need to grind my own lams and I still buy them from Kenny or Troy.  

The question is - how many bows are you planning to build?  I only build a couple per year, so to me it's just not worth grinding my own.

Poor Man's Table Saw...  Take a 2'x 2' piece of 1/2" plywood, get yourself a powerful circular saw, attach it in the middle of the plywood, loosen up the depth screw and do a plunge cut...

  I have one of these for ripping small pieces of wood and fiber glass lams and it works great...  I don't know how well it will rip Hard Maple though...  It's worth a try...
