Nor should you, it's the corner stone of what you do next. So here it is, my glass cornerstone. It shoots more accurate than I do but boy is it hard on ya, rattles the teeth and that is with heavy arrow. Hopefully someday I will gain enough experience to make that go away.

I probably needed to spend more time filling the grain of the ash handle and the pics reveal a lot about my spray job     :help:    Anyway, I am not ashamed of it but I ain't submitting it to no contest either. I also need to spend some time studying handle design.

I haven't put it on the scale but I am guessing about 45-48@28". Ash riser, elm tapers (.003 total if I remember right, I bought the stuff about two years ago, Thanks KennyM), red oak parallels. Cow horn overlays on top of phenolic.

Now as soon as I can remember where I put it I will add some mole skin.

I GUESS IT'S OK....

WELL IT'S NOT BAD....

Ya paint it with a roller?

LOL

Teeth rattle? I would say it's not balanced or tillered well.

But ya did good.... Looks nice..

Thank you Roy. The tiller is about 1/16" different but I was telling myself that's ok since I recently switched to 3 under     :saywhat:

I am certainly not afraid to tweak it a bit and respray it if there is a chance it can be fixed so feel free to throw advice at me.

Looks good skeater. Tips look really good.
Don't nit pick yourself. Every bow I've made so far has some sort of flaw that I wish I'd done better. What did you use for finish?  Looks like it was drying too quick and didn't lay down flat.

As far as teeth rattle..... check out some of bowjunkies posts on limb timing. I've been using his method, and bows are quiet and shock free.

It's nice, Lonnie. For three under it will need a negative tiller. But limb timing is the way to go.

Bvas, it's rattle can Poly. I may just be putting it on a bit too lightly trying to avoid runs.

I will do a search for bowjunkies posts. Thanks.

Roy, I am getting that negative till would be the lower limb having the lower measurement?

Yep. Either coats too light or holding can too far away. No need to completely refinish(unless you decide to retiller). Just use some extra fine sand paper like 400 grit to smooth it up. Then just give it another coat to smooth it up. Just make sure you follow the cans instructions and wait time for recoating.

No. A positive tiller is when the measurement on the top limb is greater than the bottom limb.

A negative tiller is when the bottom limb has a greater measurement than the top limb.

I have been reading through a few of Bowjunkie's posts. I will just say that dictionary.com is going to get tired of hearing from me before I start to understand this stuff.   :wavey:

I have a feeling I will top Bowjunkie's hit list for this but I will take that chance LOL.

Many older posts mention a tutorial that was going to be made. Did that ever happen and I am just not finding it?

If you want to read a book on limb timing, just send Ole Bowjunkie a PM... He will explain in great depth. Jeff is a great guy and very knowledgeable in bow building.

Better craftsmanship than I'll ever do.  Looks nice!

I hesitate to invest too much in the aesthetics.  In the last year or so that I've been making bows, I've broken 3.  One within 100 shots.  Another within 50.  The last after many hundreds.  I just got another one tillered & sanded last night.  At that point, I just want to get out and shoot it by day and build another by night.

I like it, great job on the tips.

Really nice work. That finish almost looks like it has over spray on it. Make sure you have good cross ventilation to pull the over spray away from the work. If you are in a closed area and can see paint floating in the air that's over spray and it will settle back on your work and cause that type of finish. Or ya could have been to far back. Really nice either way.

The handshock is easy enough to get rid off. Show us a picture of you drawing it.

I will try and get a full draw pic, with the holidays it's been pretty hectic and trying to pin down a time when the Mrs. and I aren't going 90MPH is difficult.

I like the pebble finish to break glare, bow looks good too, nice tips!
Stay sharp, Kenny.

I wouldn't change a thing, the workmanship and finish look  fantastic. I have intentionally sprayed that type of texture on my last several bows.
