made my first selfbow. my wife got me a stave for christmas from Pine Hollow Longbows. Did a lot of reading (TBB VOL I, II, III) Bent Stick by Compton, researching the web, asked much advice on some FB bow forums and have produced a functional bow. learned a lot doing this....especially patience.
Have heat treated belly and sanded to 220 and steel wool all day today. Shoots quiet and fast.
pull 52lbs @ 28
I am going to stain and seal later this week....I am hooked.

Looks great! What kind of wood is that? What's the bow length?

Great job on that bow!  The tiller looks perfect.  I wish my first one turned out that nice.

thanks for the kind comments, I appreciate it. I am not sure how many hours I have total with the work, reading, watching videos.....I lost track of all that.
I have a couple cherry staves curing from last year, will give me something to do this spring  ;)

I'm no whimp,      :biglaugh:     how the heck do you you guys pull over 50#..?  In my hay day I would go up against any man.  I'm over 60 now.

passion for knowledge

#60 is about my max - when I can get out a lot I can keep in shape. Winter I get soft and drop to #50ish depending on which bow I decide to shoot.

My bows range from #40 - #60

On my 63rd trip around the sun.

I just enjoy shooting, weight doesn't matter that much (within reason)

I can pull 60# but my form suffers severely!  The older I get the more I enjoy shooting 45# and less.  And I shot better too!    ;)
