Hello everyone, has anyone found any glues other then unibond 800 for wood/bamboo laminate bows? I like that I don't need heat to cure unibond, but the 6-8 month shelf life is not very convenient for me. Anyone have any other non-heat cure glues/epoxies that will work well for bamboo backed and tri-lam bows? Thanks, SS.

I had good experience with Elmer's carpenter's glue (the yellow stuff). But, you have to have perfectly flat gluing surface. I maneged to get away with not so flat bamboo backing (I flatten bamboo by hand), I just filled the gaps with super glue gel or epoxy.

I keep my unibond in the fridge and it lasts a year at least.

That's a good idea Roy, I may just go that route instead. Thanks, SS

Weldwood Plastic Resin is very similar to Unibond. It is a powder you mix with water and as a powder it has an unlimited shelf life as long as it stays dry. It is available locally too. I got a tub at the local ACE Hardware.

Titebond 3. I use it for all my wood/bamboo bows.

The latest info from the unibond folks is to put the can in the freezer after opening.
It takes about 15 at room temp. For it to be ready to mix.

I've been storing Urac resin in my freezer for years now. I still have enough to last me another year or two, so I've never actually used Unibond yet. resin will keep practically indefinitely in the freezer, and I've had it last over two years in the fridge.
