Riser placement on trilam.

I'm working on a Maple/Cherry/Maple trilam. I red a post of some time ago, that I can't find right now, It was Roy from Pa explaining how he put his riser on. If I remember it right it was put right in the middle of the bow, the lower limb was then cut 1.25". Could that be right? Also where would I put the arrow shelf?

Make the bow symmetrical, place the center of the riser at the exact center of the bow. Measure up 2 inches from the center of the bow/riser and that will be the arrow shelf/top of handle. Measure down 2 inches from center of bow/riser and that will be the bottom of the 4 inch handle. Then cut 1.25 off the lower limb. You don't have to cut anything off the lower limb if you don't want too, you can leave the bow symmetrical. It will be fine symmetrical. Making it asymmetrical makes tillering a tad harder and usually causes a negative tiller. Some say making the lower limb shorter makes the bow balance better in your hand, that's a personal opinion in my mind.
