What causes 'ticking' noises on three piece takedowns?

I've got a 3 piece takedown that makes a distinct ticking noise during the draw, if you let it back down the tick happens again...
What would cause it?
My thinking tells me that the butt end of the limb mustn't be stiff enough and there is some flex inbetween the limb bolt and the locator pin. The tick being the locator pin moving in its corresponding hole?
Any ideas anyone?

I've had that on some, I think the limb grates on the end of riser. This could be from what you said also. I usually put chapstick on the pads and it cures it.

Also have had a string make noise in nocks when drawn if not shaped right or rough.
Stay sharp, Kenny.

Hold the bow up to the light and see if there is a gap between the limb and riser?

I had the same thing happen to me, I had a small crack come from the bolt hole.
I would rather fail at something above my means, than to succeed at something  beneath my means

What the others say;  you can try using a little bit of mineral oil on a Q-tip and give the pin and all the holes a quick smear. On my take downs I put felt pads on the riser pads.

Many takedowns do this it is movement between the handle and the limbs, its common . To remedy it some use grease or string wax I buy clear film from Walmart the kind that is used for laminating, adhesive on one side smooth plastic on the other. Putting pieces on the handle cures the problem permanently.

Thanks for the replies. I'll try the advice and see what happens.
But do you fellas think it's because the limb pads aren't stiff enough?
I'll check to see if I can see light through it and I guess that will answer that question!
