use that stack calculator- now that you have a starting point.

Krasus

Lol right!  Good thing I keep a diary of each bow I make.  Which stack calculator would you recommend using Wayne?

Came home to a nice mild r/d longbow today. Black glass with a nice reddish orange riser...maybe jatoba or padauk??? Didn't have any daylight left to test it out...but I'm sure it will perform as good as it looks. Hopefully I will get off work before dark tomorrow so I can shoot! Thanks Ty!!!!!

EwokArcher

You are welcome! It is padauk. I love that bow, I hope it serves you well! I dragged my feet for about 2 weeks before finally shipping it lol.

KellyG

And like that we have our first one complete we are 4.55% complete.

The black mesquite tip overlays turned out well, got them all shaped and sanded out.

Put about 40 arrows through it this morning, and put some backings on it to dress it up a little.  Should be ready to start finish sometime next week.

Finished up bow for my victim a couple weeks ago, have been shooting it in, haven't got finished pics yet, but here are a couple roughed pics.

It is the front/right one, It is hickory, 70", bubinga and hickory tip overlay, maple, white oak, bubinga and hickory riser. First time laminating curved accent into a riser, didn't quite turn out how I was picturing, but I learned from it. 50#@28", and shoots sweet for me, very little hand shock. Heat treated this one before tillering, I usually heat treat near final tiller. Didnt really notice any difference. Spar urethane over Massey finish, leather arrow strike plate, B55 string. Will try to get final pics soon and get materials for shipping. Think I'm gonna ship it in pvc. I have a cardboard tube, but think I remember a few ppl saying bows got damaged in cardboard tubes.

:clapper:  That is SWEET looking, CONGRATS   :shaka:
Always say what you mean, that way people will know you mean what you say.

Well some nice work going on for sure.

And just because it is 50#@28 does not mean it is not for a 45#@27 or a 55#@29

Dan Landis

Nice looking bow Jonathan, looks like a real sweet shooter.

A few more coats of finish, a handle wrap, and shoot it some more, then I'll be ready to ship.

I have been fighting some bad sinus and allergies this past week. Finally felt like getting out to the shop today and getting my bow glued up. Now hopefully I calculated the stack right and the bow will be in the weight range my victim wanted. This is only the second bow on my new design so we shall see.

Horn Chaser

Went to the shop today and got my bow out of the form.  I cleaned the bow buggers off it and got the limbs cut to length. Now to relay the lines back on the bow and start shaping the limbs out. I think this bow will be at the max weight my victim wants possibly a little over their weight they specified. Here is a pic of where I am at right now on the bow.
