I recently finished this bow up for somebody.  Its from some dense red osage that I cut a few years ago.  The grain lines really show up in it.  The back is mostly concave and has some slight humps and bumps down the entire length.  There is a small knot hole in it.  This bow seemed to fight me all the way through the build.  It's 66" long and 50@28".  It is finished with 6 coats of tung oil.  The tip overlays are bighorn sheep.

Thanks.  I wear shorts year round unless I'm at work or working outside at home.

Yes, I sand that area down at an angle so the overlay doesn't stick up like a sore thumb.  It does violate the rings but the overlay covers up that area so it's not a problem.

Sweet!  Beautiful bow.
It's hard to make a wooden bow which isn't beautiful, even if it's ugly.

Great looking bow Clint.  Any idea why the wood is red like that?

Thanks guys.

Don, I have no clue.  It from some second growth off of an old stump.  As soon as I cut into it I could tell something was different.  It sounded like I was trying to cut a steel pipe with a chainsaw.
