self bow limb twist???

Got a question, made my 1st oasage self bow 64 nock to nock, cut a shelf in it.

I have a bit of twist in one limb towards the end.

I have only been able to shoot it will a tillering string.

It's about 44 to 46 lbs, @ 28 my draw length.

I shot a 44/50 11/32 wood w/ 125 grain thru paper bullet holes every time.

Will the limb twist matter.

I'm waiting on a string to shot it at some distance past.

First question, is the limb naturally twisted unbraced or only when the bow is braced. A little bit of natural limb twist is of no concern in a selfbow...but if it twists when braced or as you draw the bow it is because there is a difference in limb thickness from one side to the other.
If that is the case, feel the thickness on either side, one side will probably be thicker than the other. The limb will bend towards the weak side.

Natural twist bottom limb, can a guy take wood or to even it out?

If it's natural twist and not really bad, I'd let it be.

If I wanted to straighten it some, and it seemed feasible, I would heat it with a heat gun and straighten it, holding it in position with clamps or whatever until it cooled.

I would only remove material from the strong/thick side if it was twisting during the draw like Pat said... due to a difference in thickness from one side to the other.

If is shoots well, and the twist is mild and its natural from the stave ... Let it be. That's what I usually do. Or heat it out as Bowjunkie said.

You will see in this pic I have a wedge on the near side to remove some twist from the limb of this bow. I normally don't remove slight twist but this bow went through quite a few heat adjustments. I use veg oil when I make heat corrections with a heat gun.
