Hey all,

I am returning to bow making after a rather long hiatus.    Feeling a piece of wood in my hand and creating a weapon that can be fired is amazing and almost a lost art with me.

Currently I am working on a red oak board bow as my return to bow making. I am really enjoying making the shavings in my garage. I look forward to showing you all my progress with Eve as she develops.

So a quick question. Where do you do your bowmaking?

In my "shop", which is comprised of one tiny corner of my unheated garage, the driveway and the patio.  Roomy, but climate control by Mother Nature.  :)

What part of CO are you in?

I use the finished basement for layout (better lights and AC) and do the work in the unheated garage.

Monterey,

I live in southeast Denver.

My workspace is currently my garage as well. Would be awesome to have a permanent heated space though.

I'm across the great divide (Denver) in Arvada.

Using the "shop" in winter here is sorta on and off.  With weather ranging from mild and warmish to periods of deep freeze.  I grew up in the UP and lived in Green bay for a few years before coming to CO.  We hunted an area called Navarino wildlife area near Bonduel.  Lots of highly educated whitetails.

Welcome  to Colorado.  We will probably run across each other somewhere.

Pearl Drums I am also a Tenkara Fly Fishing guide here in Colorado and currently run a website that focuses on tenkara as an awesome method of fishing. PM me if you are interested in checking it out.

The best part is the bow creation project is absolutely amazing and I am super excited to see what happens with "Eve" over time.

Fly fishing and self bows are like peanut butter and jelly.

Right on glad to hear that. I agree about fly fishing and self bows making the perfect sandwich. Now I just need to get out and play a bit.

Garage; some folks actually think they are for cars, no way. On top of it being a bow shop I have added a fridge. Freezer, and sink with counter for processing meat. Wifey says I'm going to move out there. If only it had heat and air!
