I glued this one up weeks agp..Its for a local guy in my home town, it will be his first bow. I need this one to really look good soooo..I am upgrading to Krystal finish from the Spar Urethane Ive been using since 2009. Big Jim is shipping me Dull and Gloss Krystal tomorrow. Veneers are Santos Rosewood, riser is Shedua.

This afternoon I cut veneers and glass for a set of ILF limbs. I already had the morado wedges made up. I'm using Red Elm tapers from Troy Breeding. back veneers will be Figured Sapele and Belly veneers will be Curly KOA. I might glue up the limbs tomorrow, too tired tonight..***update***got a second wind..got another limb glued up and in oven.

Pretty stuff Robert.

Just got done profiling a backing ,tapering some lams, and setting up the jig. Need to do some more tapering when a sled comes in.

Shot an old BBO I made a while back..hadn't shot it in a while. Liked shooting it so much I decided to change my jig to something a tad more similar to the bbo's setup rather than what I initially intended...prolly for the better...lol

I'm hoping that switching from beer to bourbon helps the build too..seems to be working fine so far..

Robert, I'm hoping for a report and some pics on the Krystal application.  So far I've used try oil, wipe on poly and helmsman.  They have worked well but there is always something better.

Kinda quiet here.  Guessing that many of us are cooped up by cold weather.  As for me, my shp is party the driveway, partly the patio and a tiny corner of the garage.  It did creep up to 24 deg today so I did a bit on the oak pyramid.

Rounded the edges and did a bit of sanding on the fiberglass patches.  Dang, they are ugly!

Put it on the long string and checked the tiller.  Looks pretty good so put the short string on and picked a lower limb.  It's still a bit stiff but should come down with sandpaper.

Drew it to about 20" 100 times with no ill effects.  It drew 32# @23" on the scale with the long string.  Looks like it's headed for 40 to 45.

It scares me to draw it!  Can't take my mind off that riser joint.

 sorry bud!!
man those things bite- ouch!
how bad is it- at least its not your string hand!

ouch..glad it was only the tip.. I goofed around in the shop today, mostly cleaning up and some sanding on the Rosewood bow. I deboned a wild hog ham last night..I injected  most of it with a smoked applewood flavored marinade. Put the injected meat into our crockpot..tenderized and flattened the rest with my meat hammer, mixed a little Tony Chasere seasoning into the flour and fried it in Coconut oil..Made some white pepper gravy, sweet corn and gold mashed potatoes..it was awesome..today I pulled the crockpot meat apart and added Cattlemans Gold BBQ sauce, while that was warming up on the stove I sliced up some sour dough bread, buttered it up and grilled/toasted it in a frying pan.. yes I'm a fat boy.. I will not have access to my hog place till after Turkey season end of April, Then I will be looking for some fresh meat..

Oh man I hope you didn't get it too badly. Those bandsaws are a dangerous bunch.
