Ok. Got it all sanded down from 120 to 220 grit and wiped it down with acetone and sprayed the first coat of finish on it tonight. Sorry forgot to take pics but not much to take pics of anyways:). Will finish spraying it tomorrow. Came in a little heavy but trapped it down to 48@28 and it will fling some arrows!  I'll take some pics of it in the spray booth tomorrow...

Awesome.....Thank You for doing this,  I love watching these things take shape!  Very educational,  informational and inspirational (you make it look easy)! I will be building very soon myself and greatly appreciate the education I get hanging out here   :notworthy:

Here is the bow in the "finish room". It's not very sophisticated, just a plywood box with a couple of lamps mounted in it. The bows are just hung from hooks on the ceiling with fishing line. I spray a few coats of gloss and flip it upside down to finish it off. I do the last few coats with satin.

Awesome build along. I bet the colors really came alive when you sprayed it. Looks good

Thanks y'all!  Bows will come out of the spray room tomorrow for some buffing and some pics. STAY TUNED!!!

Very nice. Is your spray booth 4' x 4'? How do you vent it and how is the intake filtered for dust?

chackworth3

It's 4' x 4'. I keep the bay doors at both ends of the shop open while I spray to create a horizontal ventilation that keeps the dust out of the room and the fumes at bay(I can only spray with a south wind    :D     ) plus I mask up and try not to stay in the room longer than I have to while I spray. It's not ideal but it works for now until I get the time and $$ to do it properly

Ah, a red neck spray booth huh.. Cool..  :)
