Here is my trade bow at floor tiller stage. It is 61" t/t and will be around 50# when done.

Still got to wait on my hickory stick to come in to really get started.  Decided I'd rather not build something I was afraid would give out.  I want my swap bow to last.  I've also been doing other little projects to adjust to losing my right eye, so I don't screw this up.  Going out tomorrow to look at some black walnut from the same batch the handle wood comes from.  I'll hopefully get some pics then.  Might have some ancient red oak there as well.  When the land for this place was originally cleared, it was rough sawn into planks and used for a lot of the structures around here.  The real issue is finding clear pieces-the knots are impressive in a lot of it.

Ranger 3 now thats incentive for me to get goin.  i know you can't ship it to me until i ship... cause its my first time in the swap,  so real quick im just gonna slap together some pvc scraps with sheetrock screws, duct tape the hinges, and get Roy's bow on the way to him so you can ship that baby!

How's this for bow wood?







According to papers here, the original buildings were built close to the turn of the century, which would make this wood over 100 years old before it was cut.  As you can tell by the rings, it was a good bit older than that.  Nothing short of my chainsaw would cut this wood-and it polished the edges as it went through, the wood's so hard.  I have a few spots nails were in to drill out and fill with dowel rods (not sure what wood yet) and I need to find someone with a bandsaw, as it's 69 3/8x6x2 inches.  Big sucker.  Heavy as all get out too.

Also, I cut some wood that might just be making an appearance in this bow, it or a piece like it...







I need a new blade on the chainsaw so I can rough out some chunks to take somewhere to get cleaned up for riser wood.  I've got some less figured spalted maple cut up already, but I think I want this stuff.  Now I need to find a place with tools I can use... I don't think hand tools alone will cut it here.
