Oh we get ya Scott. Just have to buy a new bit huh....wink wink Lolol. I did mine the drop down way. Glad the brackets worked for ya.
I convinced a fellow bench member that he needed some pattern bits to do what he wanted full thickness. Then I pointed out to him that he doesn't have his own router, so he should just leave them at my shop for safe keeping.

Previously, I would use a flush trim bit on one sheet of plywood and a template. Then after screwing on the second sheet, I would use the first sheet as the pattern and just keep working my way out.

The new pattern bits work even better though...

Worked on getting my new riser ready for glue up. I have just minor tweaking that would bug me if I left it alone. I am puzzled with accent colors. I show back and white but I also have tan and didn't know which one to choose.

Here is a picture:

I ordered brown glass but it is very dark and I am not happy with the color. Now I have to scramble to get a new color. Maybe back or light brown or a combination of the two..

Anyone have any extra Glass hanging around???

I plan on getting a move on this bow next week in between scouting for turkeys.

Thanks guys!!

Justin if you have some more white glass try out white, the dark brown or tan and white- see how that looks. The zebra/wedge is a nice combo.

D

Canopy thats funny.
I dont have any glass laying around. I like the wood combo to. Especially the Wenge. I usually make my strips out of wood. Do you have any extra wood you could cut them out of?  Just an idea

I finally had my trade bow on the tiller tree this past weekend. I still haven't but a short string on it yet and haven't been able to work on it during the week.
However, I think it will begin to come along faster now.
(I'm thinking of taking a "mental health day" to get more caught up!!! But probably won't. I hate to miss school for any reason.)

Justin, I like the color combo you have posted above.

Olin, your selfbow looks great!

What? No updates or yammerin' for more than 24 hours?

BTW, came home late last night. Apparently I missed the long tube that showed up yesterday (and my wife forgot to mention it.) As if Fridays aren't hard enough as the minutes slowly tick away...

Well it wasn't me....BOOO!
At least I still have the excitement of looking forward to a new bow!!

Ranger44

I came home to a package on the porch today but it was materials to build a bow, not a finished bow.   :)

Well, the tube had a bow in it.

And the rain let up before dark.

So I got to shoot it.

It was awesome.

But it wasn't my swap bow, so I'll stop talking 'bout it and boring y'all.

Maybe the lucky guy is too busy shooting to chime in?  At least, I hope so!

Oh I bet someone is happy.

LittleBen

OK! Well here are some pics of the swap bow. Braced, Drawn to 30" and unbraced.

Bamboo-walnut-ipe with flame birch riser, stained.

Also had the chance to shoot the bow a bit, and chronograph the speed.

So the bow is currently at 45# @ 29" and threw a 493gr arrow @ 177fps and a 400gr arrow at 188fps. So to my recipient .... much better preformance with heavier arrow as you'd suspect.

I'm overall pretty happy with this performance and the way the bow shot. For 11gpp I think this is fairly efficient.

canopyboy

Not bad for a wood bow! 29" is perfect, when r u gonna drop it off?

LittleBen

hahahaha! hopefully we can meet up so you can shoot this thing before I send it off. You'll really like this one. You're gonna end up borrowing the form to make one if you try it.

Al Dean

Nice bow Ben.  When will it be here?

LittleBen

All I can say is it's not going east ..... much. lol

talkingcabbage

Hmm.  Still no word from Mr. *!&#^/'*?  Hope that bow isn't sitting on someone's porch in the rain.

Oh Ben thats perfect!  45@29... and im not "much" east lol!  thats faster than any bow ive made im pretty sure... not that i got a chronograph... but i did shoot a bow through one once... so i know exactly what 129 fps looks like
