Here in VA we were at nearly 70 today or something arounf there and I think we're supposed to go down to 20 .... something like 40 degrees in 8 hours ...

Hey I've got a question for you all that are better at building bows than I am.....which from what I've seen so far is everybody.

So these veneers I have been working on are pretty dang thin.  I'm worried I'm going to break them.  My question is...Can I go ahead and glue them to the cores??  That might be a big no no I'm not for sure.  Also if I can go ahead and glue them do I have to glue them to the form shape or will they bend with the core if I glue them flat??  This might be a stupid question but I was just looking at them tonight and thought about that.  

Oh riser is has walnut strip..lol..its in the oven now.

D, I don't know. I don't do glass bows..    But I would glue everything up at once.

Well the swap bow is all done, new string and served and string nocks tied on. Gonna shoot her some more, then send her west. I really hate to see her go... Came out right at 50 pounds.

D,
I would not glue them up to core wood and then glue the rest of the bow up in form later.  How thin are they?  If they are .030 to .050 that is normal.  Just take care when applying glue and placing them with the other laminations.

If you are making a glass bow, what I do is put my glue on the glass first.  Then put glue on one side of the veneer and gently flip it onto the piece of glass.  Then put glue on the other side of the veneer and continue to add laminations.  This is how I do it.  Never have broken one yet.

D, just glued some .025 b/w ebony lams in a one piece. Had to join them together with a small angle joint, no issues. I believe veneer packs usually run .024 and a lot of guys use them.

Well some great bow in the works and we have 2 more in the mail so we have 3 in travel. One does have a long way to go though.

I'm sending my swap bow west, but it may take 2 weeks to get there. Half way around the globe is a long way..    But it could end up in California, or Iowa, or Canada. Heck I gotta look now for the correct address..    Kelly help me out..

D, I'd glue it up like Mr. Flanrey does. I do mine the same way. A real steep angle to glue the veneers together really helps out. I do a couple test runs just to make sure they won't break during glue up.
The rest of you guys are doing great, even you Roy.

D on the veneers glue them up all at once, if your glue is warm it helps while spreading it especially on veneers.

West...... Kooool.... I'll take it. After a couple heat sessions mine might be ready to pull on by this weekend.....and yes my shop sure needs some spring cleaning. Normally clamp it in the middle of the form but it has a small ridge just under the back of the grip and had to heat one limb at a time.

Looks like things are rolling along pretty fast now! Glad I don't have to choose from all these bows... That would be a tough job!

Took the "clams" off my bow this afternoon and glued a handle block on. I should get it reduced to profile and start thinning limbs Friday.

Alright gluing them up all at once it is.  Ive only done one with veneers and I glued them up all at once and it came out decent.  Everybody I really appreciate help and advice.

Texan I think a shop is supposed to look like work is done in it.  I like the bow too.  I always like to watch the selfbows take shape.  What yall can do with a chunk of wood just amazes me
