My experience is next to zero..
..but I'll throw this out there...

is it possible, when you were sanding the limb back down, you may have not sanded deep enough to remove all the glue that penetrated into the fibers?

I know guys do it differently...but Roy's pic looks soooooo much safer....I'm still scratching my head about how I'm going to put horn on my thin trilam tips with adding much bulk...
