any other guys using yew lams in their bows?
are the bows coming out lighter than the same stack thickness in other woods- in the last two yew bows i have built, i found about a 10% (approx) lighter draw weight.

luckily i suspected this, and added in more stack height for the second bow, and it came in spot on, no room to spare!!!

any other similar expereiences with yew?
i believe all boo lams do the same thing? or am i wrong about that?

thanks

I have used it several times and usually get right about where I wanted it but I also usually start out a little higher on my stack thickness as well, maybe .005-.01" thicker stack, it is definently one of my favorites to use.

yup, i went about .01 thicker ion the second one and it came in very close.
thanks for confirming that for me- new to the glass world!!

Also check the thickness of the glass, don't just assume that when the MFG says its .040 that what it is.  I have found .02 or .03 thicker or thinner in the same batch.

thanks SS, i did check those glass lams, but it is something i will definitely keep an eye on in the future.
also just reading other posts- iseem to see that yew offers a consistently lower # for same stack- so guess i just need to accommodate accordingly.
as yew is what i will be using for all my core lams.
many thanks

Guess I should start doing this!  Thanks.
