Here's a thing! was doing a light weight flat laid HH style bow and had a strange thing happen. I have been using some auto masking tape as my regular stuff was temporarily out of stock. This new stuff is heat resistant, which has never been an issue in any case, and upper limb fine when I pulled the tape off.On both limbs the tape was a little hard to remove in places, requiring using a fingernail to lightly scratch it off. The lower limb had strands of glass coming away with the tape along most of its length! Any suggestions?

Got to work on my bow a little- it's braced pretty high but I didn't have a longer string to use. Starting to look like a bow...

Bob, I had that problem once but I taped the wrong side of the glass before glue up.  Luckily I caught it before I glued it up.  All I lost was a piece of glass.

David, I love those mosaic inlays you put in your risers.  They really make your risers look outstanding.

I had my trade bow signed by my daughter's boyfriend.  He is an art major and can write much better than me.  LOL  I also put some sealer on my riser.

Roy from Pa

So ya put some sealer on yer riser, David? That otta make it pop..  :)

bigbob2

thanks David, though I'm fairly certain[?] I taped the right side.Maybe it was just another senior moment. Any more and they will all be joining up and I will just be sitting on the porch with drool coming down my chin.

i had an interesting day, saturday my trade(for recipient) got stolen along with a few cheapo lam bows(refinish project for bowfishing), my sons osage stave that was just starting to take shape(luckily he's been grounded for a few days and don't yet know, hope to get a new one and replace before i have to tell him.)

well, one of the officers calls me up this morning to tell me nothing new, but was wondering about trad archery. well then, come on over and we'll shoot. we spent a few hours playing in the shop, half the time with my 1yr old in may arms, luckily my hunting bows were in the house and not stolen, though they were a bit on the heavy side for a newby, but he did pretty good. by the time he left i had written down this sites addy and helped him pick materials for his first trad bow. once everything gets here, i will be helping him along to build his first bow and wood arrows, then coach him on shooting. he has hopes of going hunting next year with it. feels like a good day so far. wonder if my wife would mind me finishing it off with a 2# t-bone on the bbq?

We'll be here 3 days. Wonder if there's any trad shops around here?

That's great news Dave and I dig your ride.  Was it equipped with satellite radio for that long cross country trip?

Thumb ring flew off while shooting some test arrows.  Now I need a new one.  Cue sawdust.

Did a lot of traveling for work this week.  The finish on my bow turned out very good.  I'll post some pics tomorrow.

After I take grandson to catch some catfish.   :goldtooth:    :goldtooth:

Looks like my Electrician is showing up Tuesday. They will be running 115' of wire to my shop and totally rewiring the shop. I will finally have enough "power" to run the air conditioner, band saw and dust collector all at the same time.. I cant wait to start using the Pattern Sander I recently put together, its pretty much an exact copy of Tenbrooks..

David Flanrey

Here are the pics of the riser for my trade bow.  The finishing process on making bows is really frustrating to me sometime.

Good looking start on the pattern sander Robert.
