Posting pics of my jigs, bloodyell Photobucket  drives me nuts tonight,

Not the most sophisticated jig, but are excact. Interchangable inserts that are held in place with hex bolts. When the bow limb/riser are squared off I place them on a flat surface, I use the bed of my planer. I have seen a better jig posted some years ago on TG, but that was limited to a fixed riser lenght . The jig intended for the riser is wider than the one for the limbs. It works very good, but I am always looking for other alternatives. Bue--.

I didnt have a riser block or limb blank for the pics so I just used what was laying around for demo.
This is not a width dependent jig. It will go from 2" on down and even mate a riser to a limb of another width.
So you mount and center jig onto riser block snug bolts and drill. Place limb blank onto jig, center and check alignment with string down riser too. Make sure limb butt stays on centerline while you adjust bolts to move limb tip to desired position.Snug bolts on limb and remove jig from riser block and drill.. Repeat on other side..
When making hole pattern of choice, if your holes are not all perfectly dead center it wont matter because it lines up.

Savage1 that's a nice looking setup.

If I ever make a takedown I may have to borrow that idea.

Bue You are saying that you use two jigs one for the riser and one for the limb?

And you free hand drill it, I am much more impressed with your skills. I just assumed that the drill press would be involved.

I'm glad you think so. It is not hard to make.

I hand held the riser while taking the pic. with my phone. The limb and string are not aligned but it serves its purpose. You can make additional limbs too. This jig is a solution for the home builder. I don't think it lends itself for production but then those guys are SET UP!

Those "So called" self centering doweling jigs are not accurate enough to do interchangeable limbs. IMO.... been there, done that, got the T shirt.... Oh sure... you can build a bow with them ok. but you need to take care keeping everything going the same dirrection or you are off by quite a bit.

Now Ben's swing arm style would be the ticket for a true self centering jig.
