Does unibond adhere to A-boo well?

Thinking of using an A-boo core in an all wood tri lam. ( hickory back, osage belly)
..also thinking of edge grain red elm, ash or maple.

Thanks

macbow

I use and like unibond 800.
I don't know what A-boo is.
Is it a flooring?
The glue should work as long as the A-boo is not sealed. If it is a natural fibre then no problem.

John, why not try a pvc bow with plumbers cement? :)

And the black sewer pipe for tip overlays:)

Action Bamboo

Laminated bamboo of the type used for bow cores.

jeez Roy...
A guy might start to think you don't approve of the stuff...

....the tip overlays sound well thought out...how long you been planning that bow Roy?

I just didn't know what ya meant by A boo. Yes it is great for a core lam.

LittleBen

I gotta tell you John, I wouldn't worry too much about the exact material for the ore. Frankly I don't think it matters that much, if at all.

Maple, elm, walnut, action-boo, action-wood, .... heck even oak, hickory, black locust, cherry, OSAGE .... people even use IPE! (which I think is insanity)

It all will work. I'd try to go lighter density like walnut, but realistically, anything which is lighter than osage (which includes everything on that list except ipe; as well as every other north american hardwood) you're goign to probably see a little better speed over solid osage.

Personally I'd just use whatever is going to give you a nice look with the hickory and osage....

Thanks Ben.

Ipe seems like a weird choice for a core..

After talking with some suppliers I've crossed a couple woods off my list as the particular pieces they have of some of the woods like to go a little crooked after being cut.

Right now it's a toss up between the action boo ( which from what I can figure weighs about 47#/ft3) or maple cut to be a backing which should be around 44#/ft3.

As you say I don't think it will make that big of a difference in speed or anything.

I just wanted something that wasn't going to be a HEAVY core and also that would be a consistent core....didn't want to make the tillering any harder than it needs to be. And I didn't want things that may want to induce a twist.

I'm sure I'm over thinking the whole deal but I have time...lol
