My first build is just about complete.  I sprayed it with spar urethane yesterday morning and want to give it another 12 hours before I string it up and get that full draw picture.  Until then, here are a few pictures of it - admittedly not very good pictures.  This is a Kenny M design.  Thanks to Kenny for the form template, lams and the question answering.

This was a learning experience for me.  I made mistakes, but did manage to recover from most of them.  The finished product has some flaws in it.  I missed my target weight by 5 pounds.  I had to do a good bit of sanding to get it tillered correctly, but I got a shooter on my first attempt that's what I was hoping for.  Came in at 40#.  The bow is free of hand shock and completely silent, even without string silencers.

The warnings should be posted more clearly on this site.  I am completely addicted and have already started on a recurve form and I'm thinking not just about build number two, but three and four.

Here are some pictures of the almost finished product:

looks good!! what are the wood combinations?

i agree about the lack of proper warnings. i am completely addicted as well. i am not allowed into ANY wood/tool store without proper supervision. also if my wife could block websites, i'd be in a withdrawal coma.

Thanks for all the encouragement guys.  The riser is zebra and the limbs are red elm.  the next one will have more contrast between the riser and limbs for sure.

Well done!  I wish my first would have come out half that nice.

Nice work on a good looking bow.  Love that red elm grain.
It's hard to make a wooden bow which isn't beautiful, even if it's ugly.
