I made a cool trade today...a bow for a knife. I crafted the bow and my buddy made the knife so it was fun to exchange our talents and get new stuff!

At his request I made him a 60" R/D Longbow with black locust core wood and red elm veneers. I used cherry wood for riser overlay and nock overlays. The riser has some accents using walnut and Purple Heart. It is 55#@28. Made from Kenny M's form design.

My buddy shoe's horses and has recently started using his old files to make beautiful knifes. The knife he made me has a Manzanita handle from our local foothills.

Here are some pics...

Great looking bow and knife as well, looks like everyone made out on the trade.

Both of my boys saw pictures of the knife and they each want one for Christmas.  Looks like the next trade may involve cold hard cash...Or maybe my knife making friend will need some finely crafted wood arrows to go with that bow?

Nice bow, the braced profile looks excellent- but the knive is really amazing; I just love reforged files and rasps anyway! (time to get myself a lil`forge...)

Nothing like a good knife ... except maybe a good bow. Good deal on both ends.

Dang that's cool.  I like how he left the file and rasp texture in the blade.  Killer looking bow too.  Its great to see a trade where everybody gets a good deal.
