Yeah i tried to get a good spectrum of lights and darks with that in mind.  Talked myself out of a green.

well i learned a lesson but it may be salvageable.  first time i strung it up, at a 4" brace, i realized that both limbs were twisting in opposite directions. upon closer inspection i realized that my laminations were slightly thicker on one edge than the other.  about a 16th difference from one edge to the other with all lams combined. so to straighten them out i had to make my belly lam thinner on one side.  turns out my electric hand plane that i used to taper the lams is not exactly square... tuning will be required.    anyway, here is where i am at. currently pulling 40#@ 22", goal is 45@29.  just about got everyting evened out and its about time to pick a top limb and adjust my cradle and pulling position accordingly.  







by the way its shown without a 5" brace, used a string from a slightly longer bow.

I think the fades should be blended more, they look like sharp angles which could lead to issues at the fades.

sporthunter i am going to blend them in a little more, haven't fooled with the handle much.  if you compare drawn vs unbraced its really not bending to much in the fades.  here she is 45#@ 28".  the beer is flowing so no more tonight.  next stop is to clean up the handle and make a string.  the left limb is perfect, the right needs a tad more attention, but its close.

Eric, I concur with your assessment of the right limb, especially the outer limb. It looks too stiff for the last several inches.

I would take a few scrapes from the last few inches of the left limb too, but it doesn't need much.

i think this will do, its close anyway.  44@29 with a 4" brace.  how much weight increase would you expect to see with a 6-7" brace? a pound or two?

Looks like you took care of most of that hinge. Did lose quite a bit of reflex. But that'll happen.

I think you're right about the weight ... maybe a couple pounds .... you'll porobably end up where you are now with a higher brace because you'll get a slight bit more set from shooting in.

Looks better. I would have finished the handle and dips before reaching full draw and 'accepting' a final draw weight, but that don't matter much. Should be pulling it like you'll shoot it too :^) it may take a little more set when you shoot it in by hand since you'll be stressing It differently than you tillered it for. Looks good though.

Doesn't look too bad. What Bowjunkie is saying is, you are pulling it at the center of the handle but your going to be pulling it at the top of the handle " 2 inches higher ", when you shoot it. I thought I learned you that on a previous bow project?

Jeff i didn't forget what ya learned me, and Roy, i didn't forget who learned it to me either lol!  the right limb is going to be my top.  im going to be gripping the bow pretty much on center, cause i kinda heel it.  and i shoot 3 under so im pulling from not to far above center either. im going to string it up to full brace, and fine tune the right limb to sync the limbs, and remove the last remnants of the hinge at the same time, with just sandpaper probably.  today i finished smoothing in the fades, and got the handle pretty close to finished. pics in a while.
