Finally finished my very first board bow after making the decisions to switch from compound. What an addictive habit!  Sorry for the large pics, still trying to figure out this photobucket.

Congrats on your bow!!
What kind of wood and what are the specs?
that is a crazy backing on it. I like it!

Japes4

Thanks!  It is a Red Oak board bow that is #50 at 26". The backing is brown paper that I painted a camo pattern over.

Nice job! Wish my first had turned out that well!

Very nice tiller!  What did you add to the nocks?  Is it to use a FastFlight string, or were you just stressed about strength?

Thanks all!!  I used the plans found on here from 4est trekker and "the tillering gizmo" was a HUGE help. The nock overlays were pieces of walnut.  I guess the main purpose is to make a nice deep groove for the string without compromising the tips.

Congrats on your first bow. The tiller looks good and so does the camo.

I seldom comment on first bows unless they are very bad or very good. The bad ones in hopes that I can help the builder see what not to do the next time. The good ones, well, you seldom see a really good first bow and the builder needs to be told how impressive his first bow is and to keep it up.

Yours is one a really fine job of bow making, one of the best board bows I have seen, first or otherwise.

4est trekker

That'll hunt!  Way to go.  Glad the build worked out for you.  :)

Wow!! Thanks so much all. I did spend much time on here researching and learning from all of you before attempting this build. Thanks to all the great people and their willingness to help. Now it's time to start another...I'm torn between another Pyramid and an American Flat Bow like the following...
