Just finished my first bow, and I must say I think I am definitely addicted.  I am looking at trees thinking "man that might make a nice bow".  This bow was great fun, it turned out pretty good I think.  70 inches NTN 50# at 28 inches, it has taken about 2.25 inches of set/follow during break in.  It is a Red Oak board bow with a linen backing.  Used some colonial maple minwax for stain and 4 coats of minwax wipe on poly for the finish. It shoots pretty good, although I am waiting for the right arrows to come in for it.  Right now I am just shooting some stiff carbons that I use for my Compound.  Arrows should be in today or tomorrow though!  Twisted my own string as well, which was a lot easier than I expected.  I am hoping to knock a Whitetail down this fall with it, season is only a month and 4 days away.

Congrats on your first bow    :clapper:   Yep, there will be more...
It's hard to make a wooden bow which isn't beautiful, even if it's ugly.

Very nice. Thats exactly how I like the shelf and handle on my board bows as well. Don't listen to the hype man .... shelves are just fine on wood bows.

I like the look of the backing.  Very clean looking.  Did you use black linen or color it?

Thanks everyone! The backing is brown 100% linen I found at Joann Fabrics.  It was awesome... didnt even have to dye it.
