Wanted to work with some new woods so I went into the local supplier and walked out with some canarywood and ironwood. The limbs are canarywood with a boo core. The riser is ironwood with a red and black glass overlay and I used buffalo horn on the tips. Came out great. The canarywood is very stiff and pretty light in weight. The bow is very quick and smooth shooting. 60"47#@28"

Looks good . The canary wood made a nice contrast on the edge of the limb .

Nice work! how do you get your tips and overlays to feather in so perfect?

M.Kerry Bird

I usually taper them before I glue them on. Then I use a rasp and 80 grit on a sanding block to feather them in.

Great looking bow.  Congrats!     :clapper:
It's hard to make a wooden bow which isn't beautiful, even if it's ugly.

Sweet! I finished a Canary wood bow just a couple months ago and I really like the rich look of the wood. It has become one of my favorite woods for veneers. I used some  Padauk wood for overlays and love the contrast. Great Job!

Very cool.  I have some Canary wood I picked up from the local hardwood store, not sure about its bow qualities, but it was straight grained and pretty. Got home and looked it up on the wood database and the stuff is super elastic and good in compression for its weight. Glad to see it used here. Might need to get working on mine.
